Mat is currently the Associate Conductor of Bye Bye Birdie starring John Stamos and the triple Tony Award Winning Next To Normal playing on Broadway. Most recent film composer credits are: Blood Detectives (aired December 19, 2008 on Discovery Health Channel), Sister Servant, It's Always Somethin' (2006 Ripfest), semi-finalist in the 2004 and 2005 Turner Classics Young Film Composer Competition, Hopscotch, and numerous national commercials for Palmer's Cocoa Butter. Musicals: The Adventures of Mottel, (Production: March, 2007 and February, 2008 at Merkin Concert Hall), Rhonda, Queen of the Amazon, and Desiree of Beverly Hills, (Produced at the NYC Bad Musicals Festival 2006) with Peter Charles Morris. Mat has conducted the Broadway companies of Thirteen, Fiddler On The Roof, Avenue Q, 42nd Street, Les Miserables, The Woman in White, and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and played keyboards in the pit orchestras of 9 to 5, Aida, The Apple Tree, Bombay Dreams, A Class Act, Curtains, Fosse, Hairspray, Legally Blonde, The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Mamma Mia, Once Upon A Mattress, Ragtime, Shrek, Tarzan, Titanic, The Wedding Singer, Wicked, and Xanadu. He has also served as Music Director/Conductor for the Off-Broadway shows: I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, Time and Again, Tails, Tovah Feldshuh (Feinsteins), and Prairie (Guthrie Theater). Mat can be heard on the original cast albums of Kitty's Kisses and Midlife, The Crisis Musical. Mat has appeared in concert with David Hyde Pierce, Malcolm Gets, Lou Diamond Phillips, Tovah Feldshuh, Raul Esparza, Faith Prince, Brian D'Arcy James, Laura Benanti, Gary Mauer, and Carey Anderson on the stages of Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and NYC Town Hall. He studied piano and composition at the Eastman School of Music and the Copland School of Music at Queens College. |
